The Best of Cape Town is a newly devised event taking place in Cape Town during the Formula e fest in November 2021 that will showcase the very best art, food and wine the region has to offer. A combined Southern Africa Eye and Best of Cape Town teaser will bring young rising star chefs, winemakers and artists to START at Saatchi Gallery.
During the week of the fair the selected chefs and winemakers will delight visitors with their palate-pleasing food and wine set against a background of exciting artworks selected for 2022’s new Eye edition; Southern Africa Eye.
Southern Africa Eye, the latest in the critically acclaimed Eye Programme follows Korean Eye 2020 and is the first Eye to focus its gaze outside of Greater Asia.
Curated by PCA (Parallel Contemporary Art) founder Serenella Ciclitira and State Hermitage Museum Head of the Contemporary Art Department Dr Dimitri Ozerkov, the exhibition series will begin with a teaser at START 2021 ahead of a larger touring show that will open at the State Hermitage, St Petersburg, then on to Saatchi Gallery, London as well as a Cape Town exhibition.
The accompanying book will feature 75 emerging Southern African artists and will be the 10th in the Eye book series edited by Serenella Ciclitira and published by Skira.
