CANAL is an independent gallery, founded in 2012, with exhibitions by new, emerging and established artists, in a deliberately wide variety of media and formats. The aim is to present a stimulating, high-quality and flexible programme within an informal and welcoming environment. Exhibitions have included solo shows by Andrew Cross, Rae Hicks, Adam King, Laura Morrison and Alex Pearl, as well as the presentation of applied arts, and an archive exhibition of the 1980s alternative comedy movement, with a live programme of stand-up comedy. The gallery is located on the Haggerston Riviera, an association of venues, bars and cafes on the Regents Canal at Haggerston, east London. CANAL is a new project by Monika Bobinska, developing from the original gallery in east London.
