Since opening on the Lower East Side of New York City in 2009, Scaramouche has produced a wide array of projects exploring contemporary culture through site-specific installation, with particular emphasis on conceptual painting, sculpture, photography, and performance work. While dedicated to the promotion of artists living and working in the New York area, it is the gallery's continual mission to introduce artists from around the globe, often presenting their first U.S. solo exhibitions.
