Primo Marella's interest in Asian art started in the nineties. In December 2004 a space was opened in Beijing inside the prosperous 798 Art Factory Area, followed in 2007 by the opening of a huge venue in Milan designed by Claudio Silvestrin, internationally acclaimed architect responsible for the realization of many contemporary art locations worldwide, amongst whom the Saatchi Gallery in London. From the very beginning, the Gallery has been committed to the promotion of emerging artists from different areas through the organization of shows and the publication of books and catalogues, with the collaboration of prominent local curators and critics. Starting with China, the research has touched exciting vibrant areas, from Russia to India and from South East Asia to, more recently, Africa, always with the precise goal to pioneer in the presentation of such complex and constantly evolving scenario, both in Europe and Beijing, gaining the attention of museums, institutions and collectors.
