Rachael Brown was born in Edinburgh, and now paints from her studio in rural Aberdeenshire. Her father was a musician and artist, and her mother an opera singer. Art, music and the encouragement towards self expression played an integral part in her becoming a professional singer and passionate artist. In 2016 whilst living in Mallorca, Rachael was gifted an easel, canvas and paint by her husband, and persuaded to experiment. Rachael describes the experience as ‘being struck by lightning’, discovering something inside of her which she never knew existed.
Rachael works mainly with acrylic on canvas. Her unconventional use of texture results in a unique style. Rachael seldom uses a brush; her favourite tool is a backscratcher!
“I love to create works that burst from the soul and practically paint themselves. Each piece connects to nature, life, our beloved planet, the ethereal, our collective social conscience. Inspiration can come from a word, a snowdrop, a rock, a belief, a cloud, a legend, everything inspires me!”
